Fees & Permits

 

Commercial and municipal waste haulers must first apply for a permit before any waste can be dumped or materials can be recycled at the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility. Applications and payment can be made at the St. John’s Access Service Centre on the first floor of City Hall, 10 New Gower Street in St. John’s.

 

Permit Application

The application form is available by clicking here or by visiting the St. John’s Access Service Centre on the first floor of City Hall. Haulers must complete the form for both permits and permit renewals and present the form along with a copy of the vehicle registration, lease or rental agreement in order to obtain a permit.

Permit Cost

The cost of a permit or permit renewal is $30 per year. Permits must be affixed to the inside of the windshield of the vehicle, on the driver’s side – see Permit Installation. Permits are non-transferable and are valid for one year from the date of issue. Defaced or unreadable permit stickers must be replaced. If it is unreadable due to fading it will be replaced free of charge, otherwise the replacement cost will be incurred by the waste hauler.

Account Payments

Robin Hood Bay account balances can be paid by credit card from 7 am to 11 pm daily by calling 311. Payments cannot be made from 11 pm to 7 am daily or on holidays. Only vehicles with accounts in good standing will be allowed access to the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility.

Tipping Fees

Due to COVID-19, tipping fees will not change on April 1, 2020 as scheduled, tipping fees will be charged by the rates listed in Table 1 until further notice. Table 2 lists the tipping fee changes as of January 1, 2021.
